God <darn> it! I should have stopped my foolish trips to that Age long ago [heavy breathing]. What have I done by allowing my curiosity to get the better of me? Rule 15, I always tried to follow rule 15 and this time it almost killed me. Who knows how long they’ve been watching me!?
Who knows how long they’ve been toying with me, [coughing] pretending to be none the wiser and allowing me to sit behind that <darned> rock! Did I think I was smarter than them? That I could outwit a group of savages adept at hunting and killing?

I’m off to the Third Age again, this time to observe the Tradesman caste of the Third Age.
I’ll return soon.
I’ve returned from the Third Age. I must admit, the trip seemed much longer than any previous visit. As I slowly crept through the tall grass of the valley floor, my eyes were locked on the village. What would they do if they found me?
I refused to allow the thought to swim through my mind for long.
I reached the cave and slipped in, my pace slowly increasing as I left the cool air. The closer I got to the end of the cave, to the ruined village on the other side, the faster my heart began to beat. That book, bound to the pedestal. The ruins of a village, cloaked in storm and shadow. Plus that damned lightning.
A very bad combination.
I got rubbings of the first three D’ni phrases I saw. I don’t know enough D’ni to know if these are anything interesting. They look pretty roughly made, definitely not Guild of Stonemason quality, although still legible.
Have at it linguists, and never say I didn’t risk life and limb for the pursuit of knowledge.
I’m returning to the Third Age this evening. I’ve been convinced to attempt to retrieve some rubbings from the ruined D’ni village through the cave. The Third Age should be deep within its night cycle when I go, so there shouldn’t be any issues. It will take me a great deal of time to get to the village and back, so I will be forced to work fast.
I’ll post what I find here once I return…
